1 adult, 2kids, the best deal i’ve found so far has been about $1400. I would like to have the dining plan, but is purchasing the dining plan a benefit? We are staying 4 days & we want to visit every theme park, as well as downtown disney & the water parks. Can any1 shed some light?

or you can stay in Lake Buena Vista Village at this resort. I found this deal on Mousesavers.com
DoubleTree Guest Suites in the Walt Disney World Resort is the only all-suite hotel in the Downtown Disney area. The suites sleep up to 6 people! MouseSavers.com readers get the best available refundable/changeable rate, plus FREE continental breakfast and 20% off lunch and dinner in the hotel restaurant!
This hotel is one of the Downtown Disney resorts, which operate their own bus system to the theme parks. The Downtown Disney buses run all day (from before park opening until after park closing) about every half-hour, and are much better than the transportation offered by most non-Disney resorts around Walt Disney World. (In fact, the buses are more comfortable than Disney’s own buses!) However, be aware that the drop-off point is slightly further from the theme park gates than the Disney resort bus drop-off, so there’s a little extra walking.

Go to timeshare presentations – get a discount hotel price. Usually free shuttles to the parks.
I’d stick with granola bars and water bottles for at least some of the time.

i would check out http://www.travelcuse.com for your disney trip as they seem to have the best hotel rates for disney hotels. staying on grounds is the way to go as you get transportation to/from the airport and all parks/disney areas from your hotel. check out the all-star resorts for the best value. kids love the all-star resorts too. from my experience the dining plan is not nearly as good an option for kids as it is for adults. also, from the link below click on "vacations" on the top bar then "tickets and attractions". this includes an option to buy park tickets with the park hopper and get two days free in the parks. good luck!
