Luxury Vacation Prize or not?

What would happen to a low-income family who won a "Luxury Vacation" in Europe by filling out a contest slip on a candy bar wrapper? If the vacation was worth $10,000 in tickets and accommodations would they be taxed $3,000? It would be pretty sad for a family who could never hope to ever achieve something like this to be destroyed financially by the IRS the next year, wouldn’t it?

No I think they would be disappointed as they will not be able to go unless they had the money to pay the taxes. My question is why would someone want to fill out something that they knew they had no chance of taking because of lack of money but then again it would be nice if family and friends could try to help them come up with the money to have a vacation of a life time.If I was a family member and say it happened to my sister or brother I would try to help them get to go.
