Where can we go that’s exotic, family friendly, and safe?

I really want to travel abroad for our family vacation. I have two kids, ages 7 and 3. I want a somewhat exotic location that has cultural education opportunities for my kids. History, etc. It also must be safe, no high instances of robberies, kidnappings, criminal activity in general,. I’m a Government worker, so I want to ensure traveling to whatever our vacation destination may be is not on the "black list", etc. . . if anyone has some good ideas, I’d appreciate it!!!

Japan (very safe)
Germany
hawaii

    Santa Marta or Cartagena.
They are both in Colombia but I’ve gone there on Vacations with my family (I’m 16) and I’m PERFECT! It’s awesome, I swear. There are no drug lords or anything. Santa Marta has beautiful beaches but Cartagena has historical places. They’re nice.
