How to Get the Best Cruise Prices

Hi. Bob Levinstein from http://www.CruiseCompete.com here—where travel agents compete to offer you the best cruise deal.

While many people think of cruising as a high-end luxury that only the very well-off can afford, its actually one of the most affordable vacation options out there. Your cabin, all of your meals and much of your entertainment is provided for as little as $50-$100 per person per day.

Here a few simple tips for getting the best price on your cruise:

1. Cruise when most kids are in school. As less demand equal lowers prices, cruise when other cant.

2. Book either far in advance or at the last-minute (i.e., 3-6 weeks out)—as these are the times when the best deals can be found.

3. Surf the web for deals. This will help you the sailings with the lowest demand, but dont buy at the price advertised. As cruise lines only let agencies promote retail prices, you can do better.

4. Once you find a sailing you like, you need to get custom quotes directly from agents. You can contact each agency yourself, or you can put a quote request into CruiseCompete and let the agents come to you with their best offers.

5. When you compare offers, always make sure youre comparing apples-to-apples. While all CruiseCompete quotes include all charges to make them easy to compare, many sites dont add all charges until the final booking screen. Also, consider the value of onboard credit provided for your cruise especially on Royal Caribbean-owned lines. An extra $100 in your onboard account is just as good as a $100 discount off of your cruise fare.

There are great deals to be had out there, and just following these simple steps can make a huge difference in the cost of your cruise vacation.

This is Bob Levinstein, CEO of CruiseCompete.com—where travel agents compete to offer you the best deal–wishing you many safe and wonderful cruises. Cheers!

volunteer vacation?

I heard about volunteering at a Romanian Hospital taking care of babies. I’d like to use my vacation for that. But why is volunteering more expensive than a luxury vacation? Anyone know a way to volunteer taking care of babaies for free? I pay for my flight and lodging and just show up at the orpanages…is that possible? Who’s done this?

I volunteer locally. But for my vacation I wanted to do this internationally….Any feedback on affordable volunteering would be great. Thanks! :)

hi what a neat idea! I have heard of habitat for humanity type international vacations before but not orphanage vacations. I volunteer in Korea though not as a vacation :-) It is not very cheap to fly or live here. But I think you could find a great deal if you advertised in advance of wanting to rent a room in a local persons home i know that is often done by the students that come here to teach for a year the orphanages are great here they try to put as many kids as possible in foster care but there are still many many in orphanages, I know there is a place in Gumi Korea that one of the Fulbright teachers stayed at for a month. I will look again for her website and get back to you. you can also check out the websites below the first one is a volunteer group and they might be able to set you up with temporary accommodations. English is spoken here but for the most part don’t expect a daily fluent conversation in English outside of the capitol (not to put you off just to prepare you) I hope it works out for you

Virginia Beach or Myrtle Beach – Which is better for two friends on vacation?

A friend and I are looking to go on a beach vacation on the east coast (we live on the west side) around Labor Day this year, and have heard both VA beach and Myrtle Beach are good options. Which would you recommend? We mostly just want to relax and have fun on the beach during the day – do some typical touristy things – but be able to have a decent night life available to us as well.

Myrtle Beach…I used to live there and went to college there and now I live in VA and let me tell you that Myrtle Beach has the better nightlife and will be warmer. Around labor day it can be a little chilly in VA. Good luck and have fun!

vacation spot cheap and exotic for winter break for solo female 22 yr old girl?

Dec 20 to Jan 15 (ballpark, dates are flexible) I have break from college. I can fly out of San Fran airport or Oakland airport. I also have a free southwest ticket. I speak some spanish and italian. Where should I go? Im looking for somewhere relaxing with both cities and nature places. I only will have about 1500 dollars including airfare. I was planning on couchsurfing. Where should I go?

Anyplace in Latin America will likely give you HUGE bang for the buck during a winter break…just stay away from tourist mega-spots like Cancun and you’ll be A-okay.

I’d suggest the northwest pacific coast of Costa Rica (Guanacaste). Awesome nature watching opportunities and loads of cheap places to crash for a few weeks.
